Balance and Tension
There are two simple words that can help you understand chiropractic: balance and tension. Stress causes problems in both of these areas, whether it’s physical stress, chemical stress, or emotional stress.
Out of Balance
Now, when your spine is out of balance, it certainly can and does place unusual tension on the nerves that control your body’s function. However, the bigger story is that when you have been out of balance in your life and you have started to develop habits that are unhealthy, your body has begun to believe that those are the normal and places unusual tension in everything from your emotions to the way your muscles function to the way your nerve endings control your organs and glands. The fancy scientific word for that is neuroplasticity. It’s based on a simple concept that when nerves fire together, they wire together. Therefore, the body becomes hard-wired for stress if that is what it gets repeatedly bombarded with.
Nerves and Tension
So, if we want to put you back to a healthier state, we have to try and determine whether your body’s out of balance putting tension on the nerves, or whether your life is so full of tension that you cannot get back to balance on your own. What we do at our office is that we have protocols that measure all of those balances and tensions within the corridor that communicates from your brain to your body (aka your spine and nervous system). Our protocol for this is our nervous system function scans. These scan the nervous system, scan the spinal system, and allow us to understand exactly how we can help to release that tension and awaken the body’s natural ability to control itself without the use of drugs or other interventions. And that truly is what chiropractic is all about. By measuring and quantifying this stress within your body, these scans tell us the most effective way that we can help you live your best life by creating balance, unwinding tension, and igniting your body’s healing potential.
